Summer Internships at Fidelity Bank & Trust

Fidelity Interns Reflect on Summer Bank Internships

A Look into Summer Bank Internships at Fidelity

Publish Date September 18, 2018

The summer internship program at Fidelity Bank & Trust is wrapping up, with our interns completing their last day on Friday, August 17th. We had four interns this summer; Brandt Gebel, Tiffany Kemp, Robert Duax, and Abigail Dolphin. The group spent the last three months learning the ins and outs of several Fidelity departments. They experienced the various roles at the bank and have gotten to know employees at each one of our branches. The internship program at Fidelity provides a unique experience where interns work in multiple different departments of the bank to get a feel for what they are most interested in.

This is a great internship for someone who is thinking they want to work at a financial institution, but is unsure of what position they would like to work in”.

Not only were the interns able to work in each department, they had the opportunity to sit in on meetings, including ALCO, department heads, audit, and loan committee. Attending these meetings allowed the interns to learn more about the management of the bank, and how topics discussed at meetings are executed day-to-day.

“Attending meetings was a great way for us to learn about both internal and external policies/procedures at the bank, and then see how those procedures are carried out at the branch level,” explained Robert Duax, a senior at UW-Platteville.

Brandt Gebel, a junior at Loras College, had banking experience previously and was looking forward to the opportunity to work in the commercial and retail lending department at Fidelity.

“I had known I was interested in the commercial lending aspect of banking already, so I was very excited to spend extra time in Dyersville with that department”, Gebel said.

Reflecting on her summer interning at Fidelity, Abigail Dolphin described Fidelity Bank & Trust as a fun and welcoming company that served as a great learning experience.

“The employees were very welcoming and always open for questions. Jenni was an awesome coordinator who took the time to plan out a fulfilled summer for us interns, and we appreciate everyone who took time out of their day to teach us about their role at the bank. I would definitely recommend anyone pursuing a degree in the business field or interested in the banking experience to consider Fidelity Bank & Trust,” said the junior at UNI.

“I enjoyed the internship and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work my first finance job at a great company with great people,” Duax said.
