All Fidelity Bank & Trust ATM and debit card holders will receive a new contactless debit card in the mail in early January.  You may activate your new card on Monday, January 22, 2024.  Your current ATM or debit card will expire at that time.  Learn more about this card conversion and what you need to know below.

IMPORTANT DATES & TIMES

DECEMBER 5-13, 2023 Please ensure that your address and phone number we have on file are up to date, the postal service will not forward this mail piece for security purposes.  It is important to contact us immediately to update your information if you know you will be traveling in January.
JANUARY 8-12, 2024 Customers will begin receiving new debit cards in the mail during the week of January 8th.  These will come in discreet envelopes for security purposes, so please watch your mail carefully.
JANUARY 19-21, 2024

Starting on January 19th and through the weekend, balance notifications will not be available for current debit cards and your purchases will not appear in online/mobile banking.  Please be diligent by keeping track of your purchases and knowing your spending limits to avoid overspending the balance available in your account.

NOTE:  You may not see transactions over the weekend post to your account until later in the week.

6:00 a.m. (CST)
New debit cards can be used.  Make sure to activate your new  debit card per the instructions received in the mail and stay on the line to select your PIN. 

9:00 a.m. (CST)
Current ATM and debit cards will be obsolete.  Please destroy your existing ATM/debit card at this time and transition your payments to your new debit card.

 


 

ACTIVATING YOUR NEW DEBIT CARD

You will receive your new debit card in the mail during the week of January 8th.  Card activation details will be included in your mailer, but plan to keep this information in a safe location until you can activate your card on January 22nd.  Your new debit card must be activated by phone before it can be used.  

NOTE:  Be sure to activate your new debit card using the phone number the bank has on file so it can validate your credentials.  Stay on the line to select your PIN.

Contactless debit cards are a convenient payment option that allows you to make quick and easy transactions eliminating the need for physical contact with the card reader.  Instead, you simply hover or tap the card at the merchant’s terminal.  Learn more about how to use your new contactless debit card and why it’s more secure on our blog

ONLINE/MOBILE BANKING TOOLS (AKA: MyCardRules)
MyCardRules is accessible on your dashboard in Online/Mobile Banking and provides you enhanced card control options.  These controls allow you robust, self-service fraud prevention tools including features such as:

  • LOCK CARD:  Instantly deactivate a card, denying transactions on the selected card. Recurring payments may continue, and credits and deposits will still be allowed.
  • ALERTS & PROTECTIONS:  You can choose to be notified on all transactions by activating the ‘Notify me on all transactions’ toggle, or you can enable a variety of settings such as:
    • LOCATION:  Notify or block controls on transactions from specific locations.
    • MERCHANT TYPES:  Notify or block controls on transactions that have been identified as coming from specific merchant types including entertainment, gas station, grocery, travel, age restricted and more.
    • TRANSACTION TYPES:  Notify or block controls on transactions of specific types including in-store, eCommerce, auto pay and more.
    • SPENDING LIMITS:  Set both individual transaction and monthly spending limits.
    • NOTIFICATION SETTINGS:  Set preferred notification methods for both blocked transactions and notification alerts including in-app message, email and text message.

DIGITAL WALLETS
Add your new debit card to your mobile phone’s digital wallet for a convenient, yet secure way to pay.  More details will be coming on a date when digital wallets will be available.  At that time, simply open the Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay app on your phone and follow the prompts to securely load your debit card.  When using your card from your digital wallet, each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique security code.  This makes it nearly impossible for fraudsters to steal card information to make unauthorized purchases.

WHY AM I GETTING A NEW DEBIT CARD?

Technology continues to evolve.  As Your Hometown Bank, we’re consistently evaluating our technology options to offer you the best banking experience.  This conversion of debit cards is a significant step forward in the evolution of digital payments.  Though change can be difficult, we truly believe the new debit cards and features will enhance your experience as a valued customer.

I HAVE AN ATM CARD. WHY AM I GETTING A NEW DEBIT CARD?

As technology continues to evolve, so does Your Hometown Bank.  In order to offer you the best banking experience and top-notch security, we will no longer be supporting ATM cards.  ATM card holders will receive more information about this transition in the mail. 

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

Customers will begin receiving new debit cards in the mail during the week of January 8-12, 2024.  These will come in discreet envelopes for security purposes, so please watch your mail carefully and keep this information in a safe location until you can activate your card on January 22, 2024.

HOW DO I RECEIVE MY NEW DEBIT CARD IF I’M NOT AT MY PRIMARY RESIDENCE (ie: Military, Seasonal Traveler, etc.)?

It is important to contact us immediately to update your address and phone number if you know you will be traveling in January.  The postal service will not forward this mail piece for security purposes and we want to be sure we are mailing your new debit card to the correct address.

WHAT IF I DON’T RECEIVE MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

Please contact your local branch of Fidelity Bank & Trust if you have not received your new debit card by January 15, 2024.

WHEN CAN I BEGIN USING MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

You can begin using your new debit card on January 22, 2024 after 6:00 a.m (CST); however, you must activate your card before using it.

HOW DO I ACTIVATE MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

You can activate your debit card any time after 6:00 a.m. (CST) on January 22, 2024.  Simply call the phone number indicated on the sticker of your new debit card and verify your information accordingly.  Please call from the phone number the bank has on file and stay on the line to select your PIN. 

HOW DO I CHOOSE MY PIN FOR MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

You will choose your PIN when you call to activate your new debit card on or after January 22, 2024.  Call the activation number indicated on the sticker of your new debit card from the phone number the bank has on file.  Once you verify your information to activate your new debit card, stay on the line to select your PIN. 

HOW LONG CAN I USE MY CURRENT DEBIT CARD?

Your current debit card can be used until 9:00 a.m. (CST) on January 22, 2024.  After this date and time, your existing debit card will be obsolete, so it is important to receive and activate your new debit card before then.

WILL I NEED TO UPDATE MY RECURRING PAYMENTS WITH MY NEW DEBIT CARD NUMBER?

Yes!  You will receive a new debit card with a new card number, so any payments or subscriptions using your current debit card number will not process after January 22, 2024.  Be sure to update recurring payments to avoid interruption.

WILL I BE ABLE TO USE MY DIGITAL WALLET (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay) WITH MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

Yes!  More details will be coming on a date when digital wallets will be available.  At that time, add your new debit card to your mobile phone’s digital wallet for a convenient, yet secure way to pay.  Simply open the Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay app on your phone and follow the prompts to securely load your debit card.

WHEN CAN I ADD MY NEW DEBIT CARD TO MY DIGITAL WALLET?

After January 22, 2024, digital wallets will need to be tested with our card provider before they are available to our debit card holders.  Stay tuned for this date!  Once available, open the Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay app on your phone and follow the prompts to securely load your debit card.  

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO LOCK MY DEBIT CARD USING THE MOBILE APP?

Yes!  The ability to toggle your debit card between active and locked will remain accessible on your dashboard in Online/Mobile Banking.  By locking your debit card, you temporarily suspend any transactions until you activate the card once again.  This is a great tool for fraud prevention in the case where you have misplaced your debit card.

ARE THERE ANY NEW FEATURES AVAILABLE TO ME WITH MY NEW DEBIT CARD?

In addition to your new debit card having a contactless payment option for convenience and security, you will also have enhanced card control options within Online/Mobile Banking.  These new controls allow you robust, self-service fraud prevention tools.  You can enable a variety of ‘Alert & Protections’ settings such as:

  • LOCATION:  Notify or block controls on transactions from specific locations.
  • MERCHANT TYPES:  Notify or block controls on transactions that have been identified as coming from specific merchant types including entertainment, gas station, grocery, travel, age restricted and more.
  • TRANSACTION TYPES:  Notify or block controls on transactions of specific types including in-store, eCommerce, auto pay and more.

CAN I CONTINUE TO USE BRELLA?

No; however, many of the features in Brella can now be accessed within Fidelity Bank & Trust’s Online/Mobile Banking.  The ability to enable a variety of ‘Alert & Protections’ settings (as indicated in the question above) and person-to-person payment options from Bill Pay can all be accessed in your Online/Mobile Banking dashboard.  No need to use an additional app!

WILL I CONTINUE TO HAVE ACCESS TO A NETWORK OF SURCHARGE-FREE ATMS?

As we convert to the all-new contactless debit cards, we will no longer be part of the Privilege Status network.  Please know, however, that using Fidelity Bank & Trust ATMs will always be surcharge free.  If you frequent other ATMs that typically charge, please consider a Hometown Hype, Hype Xtreme or Snap $tack account.  These accounts refund ATM fees up to $10 per month when you qualify for the reward.
